Broadalbin-Perth Middle School seventh grader, Tricia Person, shaved her head this month to promote cancer awareness.
“I’ve had a little bit of stares, but a lot of people have been complimenting it,” Person said about her inspiring act.
She isn’t asking for donations or for other people to shave their heads. Person simply doesn’t want people to joke about the disease.
“I did it so I could show people that there is a reason that people should support this and because it’s not funny to joke around about,” Person said.
Person lost her Uncle Mike to cancer and her “Opa” (grandfather) is currently battling bone cancer. Her brave decision just happened to coincided with Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
